Bekkering Makes Shot at Buzzer, Dinos Down Acadia

Calgary Dinos 89 Acadia Axemen 88

The Dinos were victorious with a last second 3 point shot by Ross Bekkering at the buzzer. Chris Wright led the scoring with 26 points and 8 rebounds; Cody Darrah had 23 points and 7 assists; Brian Finnis playing at his old school of Acadia netted 15 points while Ross Bekkering contributed 11 points–7 in the last 2 minutes–and 1 blocked shot.

The Dinos came back from a 39 - 33 deficit at the half and were trailing by 2 with 19 seconds left. Bekkering wound up and clinched the game with a long 3 pointer.

The Dinos finish the Maritime road trip 2 and 1. They return to Calgary on Monday and then head east next weekend to play Brock and McMaster.

Calgary Dinos 85 St. Mary’s Huskies 77

The Dinos had a hard working second game in Halifax. They dominated in the second half with good defense and won the half by seven.

Brian Finnis was high scorer with 20 points and 6 rebounds; Chris Wright contributed 19 points and 12 rebounds; while Dalbir Dosanjh added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Plagued with injuries, the Dinos have only 9 players traveling on this exhibition series. Josh Feist, Whit Hornsberger, and Sonny Khangura did not make the trip.

The third game in this series will be played in Wolfville against the Acadia Axemen on Sunday at 1:00 ADT

Cape Breton Capers 81 Calgary Dinos 77

In the first game of their exhibition series in the Maritimes, the Dinos were down 9 in the middle of the second half. With a solid effort they rallied to take the lead by 3. With a couple of big hoops from the Capers and poor free throw attempts by the Dinos, they lost 81 - 77.

Chris Wright led the Dinos with 17; Cody Darrah netted 16 with 5 assists; and Robbie Sihota added 14. Score at the half was 41 - 39 for the Capers.

The Dinos drive back to Antigonish tonight and then are on the road tomorrow to Halifax where they play St. Mary’s at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
