Dinos Set for Big Weekend Against Bobcats

The Dinos have their work cut out for them as they enter the 2nd half of play in Canada West this weekend against the visiting Brandon Bobcats. Calgary (3-7) needs to turn things around, and Brandon (4-6) is a perennial powerhouse in the Great Plains Division.

The Bobcats have a new coach, former Lethbridge Pronghorn Barnaby Craddock, who has been assisting at the University of Winnipeg for the past several years, but they have a typical Brandon team. Quickness, ball-hawking, tough rebounding, and great team speed have
been the recipe for success at Brandon for over 20 years. They are led by Yul Michel, a veteran point guard who distributes the ball on offense, and is a league leader in steals.

The Bobcats also boast the league’s leading rebounder in Stevens Marcelin (9.5/game) as well as having three players averaging 15 pts or more per game…Adam Hartman – 17.3, Chad Jacobson – 17.2, and Dany Charlery – 15.8.

The Dinos will have a new face in the line-up for the rest of the season. Tony Dhaliwal, a 6’3″ point guard from Abbotsford, B.C. has been added to the game roster, and will see duty at the point as well as the shooting guard spot. Tony will add quickness and defense to the mix, and he has great floor sense in running the offense.

The Dinos have the top 3 pt. % shooter in Canada West … Cody Darrah is at 47% with Lindsay Thouret not far behind at 45%. Josh Feist and Robbie Sihota are back after illness kept them out of the line-up last week. With the loss of big Sonny Khangura to injury, 6’7″ Dalbir Dosanjh will get more time in the post in support of Chris Wright, Ross Bekkering, and Sihota.

Game time is 8:00 pm both nights at the Jack Simpson Gym.
