Brandon Bounces Back, Beat Dinos 82-67

With expectations high after Friday’s win , the Calgary Dinos took the court tonight with plans to get themselves right back into the playoff hunt in Canada West, but the Brandon Bobcats had very different ideas.

By beating the Dinos to the punch on every loose ball and important rebound, and by outt-shooting Calgary 54% to 37% from the floor, Brandon bounced back to take game two of the weekend set in convincing fashion. The Dinos , inexplicably, came out flat-footed, and immediately surrendered a 38-19 lead in the middle of the first half. Both Cody Darrah and Chris Wright, who had played so well on Friday, picked up two fouls in the early going and sat out much of the first half.

The only Dino who seemed to have a scoring touch was 1st year post player Robbie Sihota, who tallied 18 pts. and 9 rebounds. Ross Bekkering, his fellow rookie big man snared 14 rebounds, but only scored 7 pts. Wright was largely ineffective, finishing with 9 pts. and only 2 boards. Cody Darrah came back in the second half to finish with 13 pts. , but it was not enough to dig Calgary out of a 14 pt. half time deficit.

The Dinos inched their way back to within 5 points with 4 minutes left, but Brandon got a huge trey from Chad Jacobson, and quickly squelched any comeback attempt. All five Brandon starters finished in double figures, with Dany Charlery the high scorer at 22.

Brandon is now 5-7, while the Dinos drop to 4-8. Calgary continues their home stand with a pair against arch-rival U of A Golden Bears next weekend.
