Calgary Dinos 92 – Alberta Golden Bears 87

In a classic ‘Battle of Alberta’ game the U of A Bears shot 52% from the floor including a red-hot 10/20 from 3 pt. range … and, they lost! The home-standing Dinos clicked for 53% of floor attempts and the same 10/20 on treys in a back and forth game which thrilled the
largest crowd of the season in Calgary.

The turnaround for the Calgary team from Friday night’s 19 pt. loss was incredible … they won the board battle 35-29 and displayed a fire on defense that has been absent in several previous games.

Rookie post Ross Bekkering showed the way with 19 points including a thunderous dunk in the second half. Ross also snared 8 rebounds, second on the team to Chris Wright’s 10 to go along with 16 points. Cody Darrah, the 3rd year transfer showed his old team some clutch
shooting as he was the high scorer for Calgary with 20.

Josh Feist had a terrific game at the point as he dished out 7 assists and notched 11 points of his own. Brian Finniss was strong at the defensive end, and set a personal record with 7 rebounds.

Calgary goes to 5-9 and Alberta drops to 8-6 in Central Division play. The Dinos have a very welcome bye next weekend, and won’t play until Jan. 27/28 in Kamloops vs. Thompson Rivers University, a team new to Canada West this year.
