Dinos Schedule 2006-2007
The Labour Day weekend ( Sept. 2 and 3 ) games with the University of Wyoming will mark the earliest start for Dinos Basketball in many years. The Cowboys, who narrowly missed a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season, will be a feature opponent in a busy fall schedule for the Dinos.
Also on the pre-season slate are road trips to Ontario for a three game series, and the Saskatchewan Huskies Fall Tournament. At the end of October the Dinos will host the ‘Battle of the Border’ featuring Montana Tech and the University of Great Falls against the three
Alberta members of Canada West - Lethbridge, Alberta, and Calgary at the Jack Simpson Gym.
The Canada West league schedule gets underway on the first weekend in November with the Dinos facing UBC and UVic on the west coast. Home games in the first half include single games with Simon Fraser and Trinity Western, and a two game set with Lethbridge.
The addition of University of Fraser Valley ( Langley, B.C. ) and Thompson Rivers University ( Kamloops ) and the desire to include games with every Canada West school has created an imbalanced home and away schedule for the Mountain Division. In 2006-07, Calgary and
Lethbridge will have only 10 home games against 12 away tilts, whereas Alberta and Saskatchewan will be 12-10 home and away. For the 2007-08 season the intention is to reverse that.
As well as meeting their Mountain Division competitors in four games each, the Dinos will face each of the other Canada West schools in single games. Familiar faces will become even more familiar, as the Dinos are scheduled to see the U of A Bears in the Christmas Golden Bear Invitational along with their 4 league tussles.
