Busy Fall Schedule for Dinos
The Dinos basketball team will enjoy a family Thanksgiving weekend free of practice and classes, but will hit the ground running next week as they embark on a three week pre-season with 9 games, two long road trips, and finish with the ‘Battle of the Border’ which we host at the end of October at the Jack Simpson Gym.
On Wednesday, the 11th, the team leaves for Hamilton, which will be headquarters for our three game swing through Southern Ontario; games are Thursday, the 12th, at McMaster, Friday at Brock, and Saturday at Guelph. McMaster figures to be tough, as usual, with Coach Joe Raso featuring All-Canadian post man Adam Steiner with 3 other starters returning for the Mauraders. Brock has lost their CIS Player of the Year, Kevin Steinstra, and will rely heavily on shifty point guard Brad Rootes to help the Badgers remain competitive inOntario West play. Guelph Gryphons have a lineup heavy in 1st and 2nd year players.
On October 19-21 the Dinos will play in the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Tournament along with U. of Regina, Brandon U., and the hometown Huskies, who were the Mountain Division Champions in Canada West last season.
On October 27-29 Calgary will host three U.S. College teams from Great Falls U. and Montana Tech as they face the Dinos, U. of Lethbridge, and U. of Alberta. The Dinos open league play on Nov. 3rd and 4th when they travel to B.C. to face UVIC and UBC.
