Dinos Wrap up Ontario Road Trip with a Win
In their third game in three days, the Dinos wrapped up their 3 game Ontario road trip with a 82-71 victory over the Guelph Gryphons. Josh Feist led the way for the Dinos with 30 points keeping the Dinos in the game during many dry spells while hitting a 35 foot bomb to beat the shot clock late in the first half. Ross Bekkering, improving every game after practicing only once with the Dinos before the road trip due to a broken finger, had his best game of the trip recording 16 points and 12 rebounds. Cody Darrah added 13 points including 3 triples.
Game one of the Dinos road trip saw the Dinos face the MacMaster Mauraders. The Mauraders pulled away to an early 20 point advantage, but the Dinos were able to narrow the gap to two points with 3 minutes left. Capitilizing on their possessions and free throws, the Mauraders pulled away at the end for the 85-78 victory. Martin Ayaji led the way for the Mauraders with 28 points while John Obravac added 18. The Dinos were led by 4 double digit scorers: Brian Finniss with 15, Jeremy Odland with 14, Joe Schow with 12, and Josh Feist with 10. Ross Bekkering grabbed 10 rebounds for the Dinos
The Dinos ran into a hot shooting Brock Badgers team in the second game of the road trip. The Badgers capitalized on 13 of 33 3 point field goal attempts to pull out the 89-78 victory. The Badgers were led by the scoring of Chris Keith and Brad Rootes who scored 27 and 18 respectively. The Dinos got a huge game from Joe Schow in a losing effort with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Ross Bekkering once again led the Dinos with 10 rebounds.
The Dinos are on the road again this weekend heading to the University of Saskatchewan to play in three more pre-season games. The Dinos face the Regina Cougars at 5:00pm on Thursday October19, the Saskatchewan Huskies at 7:15 on October 20, and the Brandon Bobcats at 5:00pm on October 21. Stay tuned for more Dinos results!
