Dinos Pull out 91-85 Win over Lethbridge
You’ve heard the saying that a game is a full 40 minutes of effort and focus; well, the Dinos, bright lads that they appear to be, have calculated that 20 should be sufficient. After all, why waste energy ?
Another first half better re-run on ‘The Space Channel’ as Lethbridge shocks Calgary with a 47-37 half time lead courtesy of some classic Swiss Cheese defense by the lead-footed Dinos. Once again, the Dinos see the light at half-time, or, rather, hear the thunder, and the hometown team comes to play in the 2nd half, quickly erasing the Lethbridge lead, and going on to a 91-85 win.
Playing a much more heartfelt defense, the Dinos out-scored Lethbridge 54-38 in the second stanza led by Robbie Sihota’s 21 pts, and Ross Bekkering’s double double of 15 pts. and 11 rebounds. Josh Feist turned it on in the second frame as well in racking up 14 pts., and 9 assists against only 2 turnovers. Joe Schow had 12 pts. and 2 blocked shots for a Calgary team that shot 55% from the field including 7/11 (65%) from beyond the arc. Calgary was good on 24/37 free throws while Lethbridge struggled with 10/21.
The Dinos will attempt a rare feat in tonight’s second game …to play all 40 of those minutes at full throttle. A waste of energy? No, a sign of a committed, motivated, and contending team !
Game time is 8:00 Saturday.
