Dinos lose a pair to finish up first half of season

Game 1 saw the Dinos fall 87-70 at the hands of the Huskies. The Dinos staged a second half comeback down 7 points with 4 minutes left, but couldn’t overcome fouls and turnovers.

Andrew Spragrud notched 29 for the Huskies. Robbie Sihota and Josh Feist had 15 each and Joe Schow had 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Dinos.

Both teams shot 50% for the game, but the Huskies were 10 for 21 for threes while the Dinos were only 4 for 11. From the foul line, Saskatchewan was 23 for 33 and Calgary was only 10 for 15.

Saturday saw a better effort by the Dinos. The Dinos came back from a 33 - 31 half time deficit to take a 7 point lead with 3 minutes left, but failed to hold on as the Huskies hit three 3 point clutch shots down the stretch. The key to the game was 29 turnovers by the Dinos which limited them to 49 shots from the field to 59 for Saskatchewan.

The Dinos had 4 players in double figures. Josh Feist led with 17 points and 9 steals; Ross Bekkering had 15 points and 9 rebounds while Robbie Sihota contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds; and Cody Darrah added 14 points.

Calgary finishes the first half of Canada West play at 3 - 7 with the Huskies at 6 - 4.

The Dinos resume play in Edmonton after the Christmas break playing in a tournament at the University of Alberta.
