Ross Bekkering on Final 14 FISU Games Roster

Ross Bekkering, native of Taber, Alberta and 3rd year standout forward for the University of Calgary Dinos has made the Final 14 roster for the Canadian National Development team which will compete in Thailand at the World University Games this July. A walk on tryout in Toronto prompted Ross to give the camp and team a shot with no word of an invite for him or any of the Dinos. Ross made the best of situation by beating out over 40 other players to be one of 2 athletes chosen to go to the main camp. Based at Durham College in Toronto, ON, Ross attended the National Camp which was comprised of both National Team and Development National Team members.

Ross again made headway by catching the eye of National Team Coach Leo Rautins, and performing very well at the 4 spot all week during the camp. Beating out several other players who had been formally invited, Ross made the roster of 14 that will train again at Simon Fraser University at the beginning of July. Some other players on the roster include CIS stanouts Jacob Doerkson, Garry Galimore, J.P. Morin, and Casey Archibald. Stepping up his game and improving his inside play and strength have given Ross a very good shot at cracking the line-up. Stay tuned for more updates at www.dinosbasketball.com.
