Bekkering Makes Omaha Newspaper
In a story outlining the Creighton Blue Jays trip to Canada, Steven Pivovar not only mentioned the success of their recent games, but the high flying exploits of the Dinos Henry Bekkering. The Omaha World-Herald Journalist listed Henry as number 4 in his top ten list of what the Jays learned in Canada:
4. Stinnett isn’t only player who can jump - P’Allen Stinnett wasn’t the only guy in Calgary with hops. The guy with the best leaping ability in Calgary played for the home team. Henry Bekkering, a 6-foot-7 forward for the University of Calgary, wowed the Bluejays with his high-flying antics. “The kid could jump out of the gym,” Dotzler said. Bekkering has a 42-inch vertical leap and legend has it that he once jumped over seven kids for a throw-down at a camp. His best dunk against the Bluejays came off a one-step baseline drive. “He almost hit his head on the rim,” junior guard Dustin Sitzmann said. Said Dotzler: “The kid was just unbelievably athletic. He could go to the NBA dunk contest and compete with anybody.”
Stay tuned for more high flying antics in the Dinos upcoming games, as well as video footage from The Dinos 2007 Summer Basketball camps which will be posted soon both here, and on youtube.com.
