Male: Henry Bekkering, Calgary (basketball)

Calgary standout Henry Bekkering put on a show for the home fans as the Calgary Dinos men’s basketball team wrapped up the first half of the season with a sweep of the Saskatchewan Huskies (5-5).

The 9-1 Dinos sit alone in first place in the Central Division. Bekkering, from Taber, AB, had 23 points each night and 13 rebounds over the weekend, leading the Dinos in scoring in both Friday’s 104-69 drubbing and a much tighter 83-74 win Saturday night.

He shot better than 56 per cent from the field over the weekend and averaged 32 minutes each night. A fourth-year transfer from Eastern Washington (NCAA Div. I), Bekkering studies social sciences at the University of Calgary.
